So Who Drives a 2 Million Dollar Super Car in NYC?
As the title of this post suggests, who, in their right mind would drive a 2 million dollar super car through the streets of mid town Manhattan. If you follow the news, you already know the answer to this question. But first some stats on the Bugatti Veyron: this land based missile sports an 8 liter 1200 horsepower engine. It goes from 0-60 mph in about 2.5 seconds. 0-124 mph in about 7 seconds. It has a top speed of roughly 250 mph. It gets about 8 miles per gallon in the city and driven at top speed will get 3 miles per gallon. This car has more power than your typical NASCAR cup car. It would probably beat most Formula 1 cars in a race.
So who buys this street legal race car? Mostly people with nothing better to do with their money. These people buy these limited production cars for the investment. The price will only go up on these cars. I would be hard pressed to see anyone driving this car...anywhere. The photo above was taken at a car show and the owner/dealer never ventured more than 15 feet from the car. I own a 2007 Mustang that may be worth $10,000. I won't drive it in the city. Most people I know that own an exotic vehicle understand the risks of owning and driving one of these things.
Finally the answer to the original question of who drives a 2 million dollar super car thru the streets of NYC; a moron! Yes Tracy Morgan is a moron! First, he could have bought any kind of exotic sports car at a fraction of the price. Hell, even a great Ferrari would only set him back $250,000. For a guy that identifies with a certain urban lifestyle, this does not fit the mold. Second, he purchases the car and drives it himself thru the streets on NYC when the the traffic is at its worst. I am pretty sure the dealer could have arranged some sort of delivery for this automobile. However, that would have deprived Mr. Morgan from showing off to all his fans in mid town. So finally, when the lady driving the Honda CRV sideswiped his trophy, he got out and (understandably) starting banging on her windows in a threatening manner.
Quite frankly, he got what he deserved. The unfortunate thing is how the ladies insurance company is gonna have to pay out a huge settlement. This kind of damage could cost $200,000 or more to fix, if indeed it was the ladies' fault. Remember, the Veyron is ultra high performance car. Maybe Morgan hit the gas a little harder than he should have. Maybe Tracy Morgan caused the accident because he was too busy showing off.
Either way, Tracy Morgan is a moron! He forgot the basic rule of car ownership; your car becomes how you treat it, meaning, if you treat your car like crap, your car will become crap. Whether that car is worth $2000 or $2 million. He got what he deserved.

Welcome 2019!!
It's 2019 and racing season has officially started with the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona and the Rolex 24 at Daytona. This week is Speed Week at Daytona in preparation for the NASCAR Daytona 500 on February 17th. Before the race, there is a a lot of preparation behind the scenes. This photo gallery just scratches the surface of the hard work performed by pit crew memebers and NASCAR officials. All in beautiful black and white.
